ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Appraiser is the highest journey-person level and undertakes any rural appraisal assignment, including all property use-types common in the market area we serve. They have full appraisal signature authority having earned the CA OREA Certified General license. Responsibilities are broad and complex and based on the employee’s experience and education level achieved. Serves as a mentor to junior level staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1)  Conduct the initial subject property inspection.

2)  Conduct appraisals of real property to determine value using cost, sales comparison, and income approaches.  Conduct appraisals and/or inspections of personal property. This includes coordination with regional credit management (branch managers, regional vice president and senior vice president as applicable) to prioritize assignments and provide good customer service.

3)  Collect sufficient subject property specific and general data that allows the full development of the report from defining the problem through highest and best use.

4)  Search, confirm, analyze and archive market sales and rent information.

5)  Determine, analyze and apply the appropriate valuation approaches.

6)  Report the information developed in the appropriate narrative format.

7)  Establish and maintain good customer relations by providing ongoing communication, coordination, and timely assistance throughout the appraisal process and during any non-valuation assignment.

8)  Participate in branch and association representation at community and agricultural meetings and projects.

9)  Perform other non-valuation functions that may be assigned.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1)   BA/BS degree in agricultural management, agricultural business, business administration, real estate or economics; or equivalent.

2)   California and / or Nevada Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license required.

3)   At least 6 years of successful experience as an Appraiser.

4)   Successful completion of required continuing education hours of Appraisal Foundation (AQB) qualified educational course work.

5)   Knowledge of agriculture, agricultural lending, appraisal, and real estate principles and practices.

6)   Demonstrated ability to generate highly accurate work and make independent decisions.

7)   Must be proficient in organizing and prioritizing work to met deadlines.

8)   Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

9)   Exceptional persuasive and interpersonal skills.

10)  Proficient in the use of PC, including e-mail, word processing and electronic spreadsheet software.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
